Singapore Polytechnic Symphonic Band

About Us:

Founded in 1972, the Singapore Polytechnic Symphonic Band took its first steps as a brass band, then a military band, and has since expanded into a symphonic band. Starting with only six members, the band currently boasts of a hundred musicians at full strength, and is one of the strongest local bands at the post-secondary level.

The band’s first concert, ‘Musical Delights’, was held at the Singapore Conference Hall in 1975. Its success has led to its ‘Musical Delights’ becoming an annual concert series, currently in its 41th year. In addition, the annual ‘I Believe in Music’ concert series is held in campus for new band members to showcase their talent.

Over the years, the band has achieved several prestigious awards:

2000: 11th Australian International Music Festival – Gold
2010: 3rd National Band Competition – Gold with Honours
2014: Singapore International Band Festival, Open Division – 2nd Place

As an active force in the band scene, the band participates in overseas trips for music exchanges with other bands outside of Singapore:
